Be sure to scroll through the interior pictures.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
So, love it or hate it?
I’m going with hate it.

If you can get over how it looks on the outside you still have to contend with what it looks like on the inside.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:43 |

I think the interior is even uglier than the exterior. Despite some highly questionable design choices on the rear end.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:44 |

Wait ... is that leather in the engine bay?
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:46 |

Good god it is.

I am a worse human being for having watched that video.
That car is violently hideous, and an absolutely disgusting way of spending too much money.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:49 |

Is this quality fabrication?
Hopefully these aren’t structural zip ties
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:50 |

I wouldn’t kick it out of bed but I also wouldn’t have built it.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:51 |
|
Nope.
Some parts are very nice, some are terrible (lower rear, lots of bits inside, stupid f runk treatment), and some look still wanting underneath.
$250k is ridiculous for this.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:52 |
|
Oh and I happened to see an article that said the owner put 200k into it, and is now selling via consignment for 250k. In other words, he’s trying to price it based on what he put into it (factor in commissions and a little negotiation and he thinks he can get out whole).
I didn’t watch the video and will not, based on your comments.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:54 |

It’s a weird mashup of some cool bits, some idiotic decisions, and questionable detail.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:55 |
|
That’s the nicest thing anyone has said about it yet.
I wouldn’t be caught dead in it. And I suspect it’s being sold because it’s actively trying to kill the driver.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:56 |

A couple rolls of duct tape would really have finished that off nicely.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 14:57 |

I was just looking at a 914 at Gateway’s Denver dealership. It was good, but over priced. This is bad AND overpriced. I can’t load the video right now but I’m looking forward to it

Better read TheAspiringEngineers comments before you do that!

Every picture you look at makes it even worse, too.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 15:03 |

None of the shapes make sense. Why are the exhausts square? Why are the rear lamps (from a 997 I think) sunken in.... why is the porsche logo engraved on either side of the engine bay.... why does it need a second screen with the RPM if they have the gauge? Why did they whiteletter the tires IN THE WRONG FUCKING FONT. Also... what’s up with the stitching, why emphasize a model that
doesn’t
exist?
For a quarter-mil you can get yourself a very nice 993 Turbo, probably a Turbo S, why someone would get this monstrosity instead of that is beyond my comprehension.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 15:04 |

So much worse. I didn’t see that the engine had been changed before I made my comment. So in addition to my eyes being seared for life I am not vomiting uncontrollably .

This font is a crime, the fact that this is embroidered in 5 different places is worse.

I like the color.....
That’ s it.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 15:15 |

There are SO MANY bad details, I see two new ones every time I look at it.
You have some roof scoop that doesn’t appear to be functional (but probably should be), taillights that seem to be off of a 4th gen Mitsu Eclipse, leather in the engine bay, giant Porsche logos in random places, the silly decision to call it a 918 (dude that’s a real car that’s way cooler than this), the ricer rear view mirror, etc etc etc.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 15:16 |

Yo, bro- do you even Comic Sans?
![]() 07/05/2019 at 15:18 |

Yeah, I do too. That is also probably the only thing I like too.

We’re trying to sell this car for a lot of money. So we hired a 15 year old with a go pro to make a video.
They could at least get a gimbal to help with the shaky cam.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 15:51 |

Roof scoop is functional, there's a chrome vent lain into the inside.

It actually does. Every picture revealed or highlighted some unfortunate detail I hadn’t noticed on the previous picture.

But you’re obviously a sane and rational person, so obviously you’re not in the market for this crap.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 16:26 |

It’s like they spent 10-12 years building their dream car. Making drastic changes the entire way. Writing bigger and bigger checks to everybody, even some shops that never touched the car. Once it was done, stood back and admired their work. Took it to 2 shows, got laughed out of both, got upset and immediately traded it in on a CPO Toyota Sequoia . Car was auctioned, Gateway picked it up. Did a bun ch of embroidery work and sold it for 4 times the price.
My favorite part is the 1 69.99 ebay Jeep headlights and the leather bomber jacket interior. You can’t top that ....

With a 2 dollar LED strip shoved in it too!
Wait so if it’s raining will the water drip onto your head?
![]() 07/05/2019 at 16:31 |

I also kinda like the shield/Porsche logo shaped surround that the window switched sit in.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 16:33 |

This seems accurate.
I paid lots of people for thousands of hours of labor and I don’t like the end result.
I guess I’ll try to break even on it.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 16:34 |
|
At least they got the front right in the engine bay.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 16:38 |
|
I’m guessing they chose 8 because it has 8 cylinders.
In their defense this project was possibly started before the 918 was a real model. The 918 is only 5 years old.

What parts of the interior should be leather ?
Yes...

Properly Borsuq'ed?
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:02 |

And hey now, don’t forget the frunk and the engine bay, OK?
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:03 |
|
Well, just what the hell do you expect for $250k?
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:04 |

TBH, I was looking for ducts to the engine bay, forgetting that there was a radiator up front...
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:05 |

I’m not really sure that I’m sane or rational, but I’m definitely not *that* kind of insane or irrational.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:06 |

Somewhere it says that the ‘8' was chosen for exactly that reason, you’re correct.
Quite possible about the actual 918, too, I suppose.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:07 |

That is true - though the boot plate more than makes up for it, IMHO. Exposed fasteners because race car, I guess.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:10 |
|
Yes, except I think Gateway is a consigonor and I don’t think he’s sold it yet?
The price seems suspiciously linked to the alleged cost of the build BTW - I found an article saying he put $200k into it, and now it’s priced at $250k. Deduct Gateway’s fee and leave some room for negotiation, and voila! He’s whole.
Provided there’s 1 more person on this planet who would sink $200k into this.
![]() 07/05/2019 at 17:11 |

LOL let’s not go overboard, it’s only $250k

![]() 07/08/2019 at 10:27 |

To each his own, I just would have spent the money very differently than this -
![]() 07/08/2019 at 10:28 |
|
I would have also, but something about that leather is strangely attractive.
![]() 07/08/2019 at 10:31 |
|
I kind of agree - but they used about 3x more than necessary, weigh made it look garish.
Cover the seat bolsters with it, use something solid color for the inserts and then just stahp.
![]() 07/08/2019 at 10:33 |

I agree, likewise, if it’s what they liked, good for them.
